Project Description
Create a portable sculpture that responds to the word: Nomad. Your work must consider its relationship to the site(s) and location(s) you intend to set it up. This context is an essential part of how the piece will ready conceptually.Specifications
Case-1. It holds your sculpture.
Your piece must be able to come apart so that it fits in a case for transportation. The case should consider all your current limitations- not to heavy for you to carry, not to fragile, not so large that it will not fit through doors, on the bus, etc.
Note: You will buy or find the case. You can make it if necessary, but you can probably find something already available and modify it.
2. It is unified with your sculpture.
Your sculpture should fit inside the case in a way that it looks like the case was made for it.
3. It is easy for you to transport.
The case should be easy for you to transport since you will need to use it to move the work to it's location for installation and documentation. Ideas for cases include roller luggage, "gusano" bags, back packs, shopping carts, cases from other equipment you may have, etc.
4. It addresses the concept of word: nomad.
Sculpture-
The sculpture that is contained in your case needs to expand to at least 10ft x 4ft x 4ft in overall dimensions. These are minimum requirements. Your piece can be larger, but it can not be smaller.
The sculpture needs to respond to the concept word: nomad.
Site/Location-
The site is an important consideration for you. How will it effect the meaning of your work?
Think about:
The scale of your work in the site- feel large or small?
The activity of the site- is it quiet, is it full of activity?
Urban, suburban, rural, agricultural, wilderness (Everglades)?
Day or night, afternoon or morning?
Lighting needs?
Electrical needs?
Any other needs?
Consideration of weather/wind/rain/heat?
Interaction with people at the site- what may this look like?
...
Your work in the site needs to address the concept work: nomad.
